This book is a solid example of her excellent world-building, and her ability to tell a compelling story. In short, almost none of characterization in this book is on par with Shinn's other work, which is a little weird, because her characters are usually the best part of her writing.

If the judder only happens when idling, it could be a small leak on the vacuum side of the engine, or a worn-out electrical component such as the crankshaft sensor.However, there is a plot point which annoyed me greatly (see my reasoning in the spoiler section), which is why I awarded The Shuddering City just three stars. Ahlborn’s descriptions of the nightmarish creatures and the carnage they inflict are delightfully grotesque. One report suggested that shuddering attacks could be a variant of benign myoclonus of early infancy, which can present with similar movements and can also be triggered by eating and excitement.

Sharon Shinn is one of my all-time favourite authors, and I was so excited to see a new release from her! I read as often as I can, across all genres, though I’m most often holding a book that’s fantasy or romance, with the occasional western thrown in.So when I saw The Shuddering City on the paperback shelf at the library, I thought I should try it to see if I liked something else that she wrote. It literally got to the point where things got so boring, I was hoping the creatures would just go on a rampage against them all and end their conversations already. If this sounds low in drama, there's also a city literally tearing itself apart and things that could be done about it if the right people had the right information.

It’s a clever trojan horse for a surprising horror movie that goes full throttle on unhinged demonic mayhem. I give “The Shuddering” by Ania Ahlborn a 3/5 as all the scenes and events with these creatures were fun and pretty horrific to read.There are various reasons why you'll experience your car jerking, which makes it tricky to diagnose the problem if you’re not an expert.
