It Ends With Us: Special hardback edition of the global runaway bestseller (Lily & Atlas, 1)
About this deal
I’m not trying to be unique or quirky for disliking a popular book but every day I grow more and more concerned with the number of people who misinterpret and romanticize this book.
COVER + BLURB: IT ENDS WITH US BY COLLEEN HOOVER
Although I wholeheartedly respect the personal nature of this story, the author’s note does not exempt this work of fiction from criticism, especially when it comes to a topic as serious as domestic abuse. I took a gander at my friends’ reviews before I started typing this and noticed my buddy Chelsea was the only other naysayer in the batch. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind.Hoover maintains that this book was meant to show that domestic abuse isn’t black and white, but I don’t think it achieved that at all. According to Google (all hail Google) less than 2% of the world’s population has red hair, and yet 99. The strong messages about making difficult choices in the most complicated of situations are of great importance to young women everywhere, especially those who are in committed relationships.

In case you don’t get the writing on the wall, Atlas is being set up as the most perfect perfection that ever perfected. Though the two have an immediate connections and sparks fly, the two decided to take their time getting to know one another.Being a superfan of The Ellen Show, Lily was convinced DeGeneres would love her if she got to know her, despite never sending any letters in. I wasn’t a huge fan of Lily writing her letters to Ellen and I didn’t really care at first, but in the Acknowledgement section of “It Ends With Us”, Colleen actually says thankyou to Ellen DeGeneres saying that she is “light when it comes to darkness”. It does not excuse the abuse and I think it’s gravely concerning for people to blame the abuse on his trauma.
