About this deal

After the impressive performance in the renders-per-day power efficiency metric, it’s no surprise that the Ryzen 9 7000X3D chips deliver an excellent blend of power and performance. However, the 3D chip is absolutely the fastest gaming CPU right now, and it beats its predecessor by a decent amount. A CPU with a lower base frequency may generate less heat under normal operating conditions, enabling it to boost some cores to higher frequencies while remaining within its thermal limits.

Targon - Wednesday, February 8, 2023 - link For those who pay attention, that is what everyone has been saying. The titles used are cherry-picked and AMD isn't sharing any details such as the test settings or configurations that were used here but if these results are legit, then we can see the Ryzen 7 7800X3D become just as popular as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in the retail segment.Agree with you for the most part, but this idea that DDR5 is a killer for any consumers and having to go with AMD (without choice) for Zen4/AM5 doesn't add up. Idle temps seem high but this is an average, some windows processes seem to bump it up temporarily so I am assuming it is a little sensitive at times.

The CPU comes with a base clock of around 4 GHz which could end up at least 500 MHz slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X and a boost clock of 5. Besides taking an in-depth look at the performance improvements brought about by the larger L3 cache, the other major factor driving performance is going to be the Windows thread scheduler. Both processors belong to the same generation (Zen 4) and offer some impressive specs, but they have some differences that set them apart from each other. As for the performance, AMD is touting a huge 30% performance improvement for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D over the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. But a lot will depend on performance, especially given the ongoing battle between Zen 4 and Intel’s Raptor Lake processors.
